About
Indigo Forward is a specialist AV integration company delivering enterprise-grade videoconferencing, unified communications and audio-visual solutions for blue-chip clients across the UK, Europe and beyond. We work with leading technology brands including Crestron, QSC/Q-SYS, Shure, Logitech, Samsung, Biamp, Neat and Poly - designing, installing and commissioning meeting rooms, boardrooms, town halls and collaboration spaces for clients in financial services, technology and professional services.
With live projects across multiple European cities and a growing international footprint, we are looking for an experienced AV Site Manager to take the lead on our most demanding on-site deployments.
The Role
We're looking for someone to run our installs on the ground. It isn't a desk-based project management job. Think part site manager, part lead engineer: you'll be on site leading the team, working out how each job should be tackled, holding everyone to a high standard and making sure every room we hand over is right first time.
The design, procurement and commercial side of each project sits with the wider team, which leaves you free to focus on the install. You'll know what a well-run install looks like, and you'll be happy to pick up the tools when the team is stretched or a problem needs solving.
What You'll Be Doing
• Reviewing drawings, schematics and the BOM before each job and working out the best way to approach it, including sequencing, manpower, access and deliveries.
• Visiting sites ahead of install to check they're ready for us (containment, power, data, backing for displays, ceiling voids) and flagging anything that will hold the job up.
• Planning the install day by day: who's on site, what they're working on and which rooms get done in what order.
• Leading the team on site, whether that's our own engineers, freelancers or local partner crews, and keeping everyone productive, accountable and working to the plan.
• Setting and holding the standard, both in the work itself (cable management, labelling, rack builds, mounting and finish) and in how the team conducts itself in clients' offices.
• Coordinating with the main contractor, other trades and the client's IT and facilities teams, from site meetings to access and working hours.
• Managing kit on site: taking deliveries, checking them against the packing list, keeping everything secure and chasing shortages or damage early.
• Keeping health and safety tight on our installs, including RAMS, site inductions, safe working at height and a clean site at the end of each day.
• Getting on the tools when the job needs it, whether that's mounting displays, pulling and terminating cable, building racks or fitting VC kit.
• Working with our commissioning and programming engineers to get rooms tested, snagged and signed off, and owning the snag list until it's closed out.
• Updating the office on progress with photos and notes, flagging anything outside the agreed scope so it's picked up as a variation, and feeding back how long the work really took so future quotes are accurate.
• Leading client walk-rounds at handover and making sure as-built information and test records come back to the office for the O&M manuals.
What We're Looking For
• Experience running installs on site, whether as a site manager, site supervisor, install lead or senior engineer heading up a team.
• A practical feel for how an install should be approached, including sequencing, realistic timings and working around other trades on construction sites and in live offices.
• Hands-on install skills and the willingness to use them, from cabling and terminations to mounting, rack builds and general fixings.
• The confidence to lead. You can set expectations, hold people to them and have the awkward conversation when it's needed, while keeping the team on side.
• A calm, professional manner with clients and main contractors.
• Good organisation, and clear, timely reporting back to the office.
• The ability to read drawings and schematics and turn them into a plan the team can follow.
• A CSCS card (or equivalent), a full UK driving licence and a valid passport.
• Flexibility to travel, including overseas, and to work evenings or weekends when installs have to happen out of hours.
Ideally, You'll Also Have
• An AV background. Experience installing or leading installs of meeting rooms, video conferencing (Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, Cisco), displays and LED walls, ceiling audio and DSP (Q-SYS, Shure) or control systems (Crestron) would be a big advantage. If you've come from electrical, structured cabling or IT infrastructure and have led teams on site, we'd still like to hear from you.
• SMSTS or SSSTS, plus IPAF or PASMA.
• AVIXA CTS or CTS-I.
• Experience of Cat B office fit-outs as a subcontractor under a main contractor.
• Enough technical knowledge to fault-find the basics (signal flow, networking, PoE, AV-over-IP) before calling in commissioning.
• Experience on international projects or running local crews overseas.
