Key Job Responsibilities
Systems Design
- Evaluate temporary event and live production requirements, including collaborating with Project Managers, sales and venue staff, and create recommended solutions based on business need and using Encore’s guidelines for design practice.

• Work with procurement to identify, select, and prioritize vendors and equipment based on overall product support, availability and performance.
• Perform post-event analysis to understand how well the original design concept held up against the objectives and recommend improvements for future designs.
• Undertake planned advanced industry training with manufacturers of technology stack equipment within their specialism.

Operational Support
• Partner with project management and onsite delivery teams to address operational challenges, suggesting alterations to the design where necessary to complete the project.
• Maintain real-world technician skills through planned onsite time, ensuring the role remains connected to current event delivery practice and operational standards.
• Act as the liaison to third party vendors, manufacturers and internal departments supporting as required to expedite technical information, documentation and operational readiness.

To provide event IT services to clients, guests and stakeholders as the Junior Communications Engineer, installing CAT5e cabling and services for all connectivity and technology service requirements both physical and wireless. Providing 1st line technical support to clients throughout live events.

Position Purpose

The Mechanical Design Engineer is a competent and experienced design engineer, able to execute all design phases of a project (or multiple projects simultaneously). They may assume overall project responsibility or responsibility for particular project elements, and will monitor progress and report back to a senior engineer regards technical, schedule and budgetary constraints. The MDE Level III must maintain knowledge of the cutting edge of technology in relevant subject areas. Responsibilities

Consideration of shipping & installation strategy to best guide the design. WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Rig, cable and de-rig camera systems on live events (Sony FX-series, Blackmagic URSA Broadcast)
• Operate second-camera and PTZ positions, then your own as your confidence builds
• Assist in the gallery: ATEM vision mixing, record checks, return feeds, talkback
• Build and run live streams; cut highlights and social clips between show days
• Prep and test kit at our Westerham warehouse using Current RMS (training provided, but prior experience will be given priority and is reflected in the rate)

Essential:
- Genuine appetite for more than one of the four disciplines, shown in anything you have made
- Full UK driving licence and your own transport (TN16, not reachable by public transport)
- Right to work in the UK
- Fit for the physical side: flight cases, cable runs, long days
- Reliable, punctual, detail-minded and quick to learn

You do not need a degree, professional credits or years of experience.

Highly desirable (these move you up the range)

• A grounding in at least one discipline: camera, editing, streaming or vision mixing
• A relevant course behind you: live event production, broadcast or esports production
• Familiarity with inventory or rental software such as Current RMS: prioritised and reflected in the rate

CAREER PROGRESSION AND DEVELOPMENT

• This seat exists to grow a multiskilled operator.
• The people running our shows all work across disciplines: it is how gass works, and it is the path this role is on. We put you on real shows early: that is how you learn this job.
• Show days run to 10 hours as standard, longer around big events, and overtime is paid.
• Expect earlies, lates and some weekends, mostly around London, sometimes wider UK. Live events are not a 9-to-5 industry and we are honest about that, and equally serious about proper rest after heavy runs.

Key responsibilities

• Promptly deal with enquiries - mostly emails and phone.
• Advise client on requirements and options.
• Discuss additional options – upsell if in client’s best interest.
• Process hires once confirmed - Sub-hire equipment if required.
• Ensure invoices are raised and payment is received before goods leave.
• Oversee equipment preps in conjunction with warehouse manager.
• Co-ordinate logistics for delivery and collection.
• Ensure equipment and accessories are all returned and in good order – otherwise raise a Loss or Damaged note and take up with client.
• Get feedback, ensure that hire was satisfactory and came up to client expectations.
• Spot new opportunities.
• Develop new markets and client accounts.

What you’ll need to have:

• A successful track record gained in hires or event management.
• Wide ranging experience / knowledge of event technology: AV / Lighting / Sound / Staging / etc
• Great IT skills with knowledge of rental packages and Microsoft Office.
• Experience in developing business.
• Applied knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
• The ability to manage a team as well as work independently.
• A confident, friendly approach with a strong work ethic
