About Breakbulk

The Breakbulk events portfolio includes three market-leading shows focusing on energy, engineering, construction, industrial manufacturing, maritime, transportation, and logistics. With events in Dubai, Europe, Asia, and the Americas, Breakbulk connects the project cargo and breakbulk industry globally.

Role Overview

We are seeking an ambitious, proactive Business Development Manager to drive new exhibitor acquisition for Breakbulk Europe, while identifying and closing multi-show business across our Breakbulk Middle East, Breakbulk Americas, and Breakbulk Asia events. This role is pivotal in hunting new market opportunities, expanding our exhibitor footprint, and fuelling the commercial growth of our global project cargo portfolio.

As part of your job, you’ll be

  • Achieve and exceed new business revenue targets for Breakbulk Europe through proactive outbound prospecting and direct sales to non-exhibiting companies.
  • Map, prospect, and penetrate untapped market sectors, regional territories, and emerging supply chain segments across Europe.
  • Build, manage, and accelerate a high-volume sales pipeline from cold outreach and lead qualification through to contract closure.
  • Identify and pitch portfolio-wide opportunities, signing new logos to multi-event contracts across Breakbulk Middle East, Americas, and Asia.
  • Sell integrated packages combining exhibition stand space, high-impact brand sponsorships, and year-round digital media solutions.
  • Attend competitor and related industry events, conferences, and exhibitions to aggressively network, gather market intelligence, and generate qualified leads.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasting, prospect tracking, and pipeline reporting within the CRM.
  • Collaborate with international sales desks and marketing teams to support global new-logo campaigns and market-entry initiatives.

Here’s what we’re looking for from you

  • Minimum 3 years of proven B2B sales experience in a dedicated new business / hunting role, preferably within exhibitions, trade shows, or large-scale conferences.
  • Tenacious outbound prospecting skills with a strong track record of cold calling, video pitching, and face-to-face closing.
  • Documented success in consistently hitting and exceeding net-new revenue and conversion targets.
  • Skilled in consultative selling—able to tailor exhibition and digital media value propositions to C-level decision-makers.
  • Strong pipeline management, qualification (e.g., MEDDIC/BANT), and CRM hygiene skills.
  • Resilient, high-energy self-starter with a competitive drive and strong commercial instinct.

If you are a proactive, sales-driven professional ready to take on an exciting role in a fast-growing industry, we invite you to join our team and be part of the Breakbulk success story.

About CWIEME Berlin

CWIEME is the leading exhibition for the global electrification supply chain. We bring together the electrical engineering value chain, connecting innovators, manufacturers and industry leaders shaping the future of electrification.
Building on more than 30 years of CWIEME’s leadership, we are expanding into the a new market that provides a clear opportunity in the power and grid equipment ecosystem.

The Opportunity

This is a launch role with a strong new business focus.

We are looking for a highly driven, commercially aggressive Sales Manager to build a new sector proposition from the ground up. This is an opportunity to create a market, develop relationships with senior decision-makers, and establish a new industry project as a credible and compelling commercial platform.

This is not a standard account management role. You will be expected to hunt for new business, open new relationships, challenge prospects, and convert opportunities where the proposition is still being established.
You will play a critical role in identifying the right sectors and target accounts, shaping the commercial proposition, securing early customers and partners, and building a strong pipeline ahead of launch.

As part of your job, you’ll be

  • Drive new business revenue through proactive prospecting, strategic account targeting and consultative selling
  • Identify and develop new target sectors, markets and customer segments that could benefit from the project
  • Build relationships from scratch with senior stakeholders, decision-makers and commercial leaders
  • Research accounts thoroughly to understand customer priorities, business challenges and buying drivers
  • Represent CWIEME Berlin at relevant industry events, meetings and other market touchpoints across Europe
  • Build and aggressively develop a high-quality pipeline through outbound activity, referrals, networking and market engagement
  • Lead consultative, high-value sales conversations, positioning the project around customer needs and commercial outcomes rather than simply selling a product
  • Secure early exhibitors, sponsors, partners and other launch customers to create momentum and market credibility
  • Identify new business opportunities within adjacent industries and emerging sectors as the project evolves
  • Negotiate and close commercially significant deals, balancing customer value with revenue objectives
  • Work closely with Marketing and Content teams to refine messaging, proposition and go-to-market strategy
  • Bring structured market intelligence back into the business, identifying objections, opportunities, competitor activity and emerging customer needs
  • Challenge assumptions and continuously test new routes to market, sectors and commercial opportunities
  • Manage all sales activity through CRM, maintaining accurate forecasting, disciplined pipeline management and clear next steps

Here’s what we’re looking for from you

  • Proven B2B new business sales experience, ideally 5+ years, within events, media, technical industries, engineering or other consultative sales environments
  • A strong hunter mentality with a demonstrable track record of winning new logos and opening new accounts
  • Experience selling sponsorship, partnerships, exhibition space or other value-based, consultative propositions
  • A genuinely aggressive and ambitious commercial approach — someone who actively creates opportunities rather than waiting for them
  • Confidence engaging and influencing senior stakeholders, including C-level executives and business owners
  • Strong commercial instinct and a consistent track record of hitting and exceeding revenue targets
  • Experience selling a new, evolving or complex proposition, where the market may not yet fully understand the opportunity
  • Strong consultative selling skills, with the ability to ask insightful questions, uncover needs and build a compelling business case
  • Highly detailed and organised, with strong discipline around research, account planning, follow-up and CRM
  • The ability to think strategically while maintaining a relentless focus on activity, pipeline generation and conversion
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the credibility to build trust quickly with senior stakeholders
  • Resilience, tenacity and adaptability in a fast-moving, build-from-zero environment
  • Confidence operating with autonomy and taking ownership of a new business territory
  • CRM experience essential
  • Willingness to travel and meet clients across Europe

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means creating new business where none previously existed.
You will quickly build a credible pipeline, open doors into new accounts and sectors, convert early customers and partners, and establish the project as a serious commercial proposition in its target markets.

Ultimately, you will be judged on your ability to identify opportunities, create demand, build senior-level relationships and turn a new sector project into a sustainable revenue stream.

Sales Executive
The Assembly
Brentwood, England, United Kingdom
£Negotiable
Full-time, On-site
Apply Now>

The Assembly is growing and we’re looking for a brilliant sales professional to join our team and help shape the next chapter of our hair portfolio.

We’re looking for an ambitious, commercially minded Sales Executive to work across our growing portfolio of brands serving the professional hair and barbering industry.

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who loves sales, events, brands and people and wants to play a genuine role in growing exciting, market-leading platforms rather than simply selling advertising space or exhibition stands.

THE PORTFOLIO

You’ll work across an exciting portfolio including:
HAIRCON – our dynamic, disruptive trade event for the professional hair and barbering industry.

Creative HEAD – an established and influential voice for professional hair, connecting brands with salons, stylists and industry leaders through print, digital and live experiences.

FADED – our premium print title dedicated to the professional barbering market.

Alongside our wider portfolio of awards, content, education and live experiences.

THE ROLE

You’ll be responsible for developing new business, managing existing commercial relationships and creating partnerships across our hair portfolio.

You’ll be selling across a mix of

  • Magazine advertising and advertorial
  • Digital and social campaigns
  • Content partnerships
  • Event partnerships and exhibition opportunities
  • Sponsorship and brand activations
  • Awards and industry opportunities
  • Bespoke commercial partnerships

But most importantly, you’ll be selling ideas and opportunities not just products.

We want someone who can understand a client's objectives, challenge their thinking and build a commercial proposition that genuinely delivers value.

WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO:

  • Is commercially driven, ambitious and hungry to succeed
  • Has proven B2B sales experience ideally within media & publishing
  • Is confident prospecting, pitching and closing new business
  • Can build strong, long-term client relationships
  • Is comfortable speaking to senior decision-makers and major brands
  • Has excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Is organised, proactive and able to manage multiple opportunities
  • Enjoys working in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment
  • Is excited by the hair, beauty, barbering or creative industries
  • Wants to make a difference and grow with the business
  • Can work to a monthly deadline & revenue target

Industry experience is advantageous, but attitude, commercial instinct and the ability to build relationships are what really matter.

WHY JOIN THE ASSEMBLY?

This isn’t a traditional sales role.

You’ll be joining a growing independent events and media business where you’ll have the opportunity to own relationships, develop new commercial ideas and see your work come to life.

You’ll be part of a team building some of the most exciting platforms in the professional hair industry with plenty of opportunity to develop, progress and make your mark.

If you’re a natural salesperson who loves people, brands, ideas and getting deals done, we’d love to hear from you.
